Store Files with box.net
If you're looking for an online storage solution that's easy to use with a simple interface then Box.net
is the one for you.
With Box you can store files online which you can access from any internet connection and share them with a friend or client etc by emailing them a link at the click of a mouse. You can also use your account to host images for eBay auctions or your own website, instead of paying eBay for the extra photo storing space. The basic account is free and gives you 1GB of storage - sign up here
- and the $7.95 per month 5GB service has a free 14 day trial too.
Easy to Use Storage
Box.net is simple to use in 2 ways - firstly there's no software to install as the service runs through a web browser, and secondly the layout of the site is uncluttered to the eye and very intuitive. Once you log in you're at the My Box page, where you can create folders like 'Holiday Snaps' or 'Tax Stuff 07-08', say. You can then upload files by browsing and selecting them or by using the drag and drop function - both very easy - or if you're not in Box at the time but want to store a file you can just email it to upload@box.net, and it's there in your account.
Working with Facebook and Wordpress
Box have developed their own application for file-sharing on Facebook, so you can easily share all your box.net files from your Facebook profile, and manage the contents from either site. A box.net widget is also available for Wordpress, allowing you to share large documents, photos, videos, and music files with your blog readers by uploading files to Box.net and adding them to the Box.net widget in your sidebar - the first gig of storage is free. In fact Box seem to be ahead of the rest when it comes to integrating, having released apps to link with Microsoft Office, Photoshop and Acrobat Professional, all of which makes for a much more useful service.
